Exploring the Antarctic Peninsula,
South Georgia & Falkland Islands
The Antarctic Peninsula and South Georgia are among the last pristine destinations in the world. With its rocky islands and ever-changing panorama of beautiful sea ice, Antarctica is home to some of the Earth's most unique wildlife: a variety of seals such as Crabeater, Elephant, Fur and Leopard; tens of thousands of breeding penguins; Humpback, Minke and, last but not least, magnificent Orca Whales. Similarly, South Georgia
is a paradise of sub-Antarctic wildlife: see huge colonies of King Penguins, and magnificent albatross in their nesting environs. Aboard the m/s Andrea, explore this region during the height of the austral summer when the seagoing channels have opened to their greatest extent and wildlife is at its most active.
In her previous life, the m/s Andrea was a Norwegian Coastal vessel operating year-round to remote regions of the Norwegian coast, where freezing temperatures and sea ice are the norm. An outstandingly strong and swift ship, she was specifically engineered to handle such a challenging route, and is well-suited for expedition cruising to "the White Continent."
